IMA Members in San Diego's North County:

Come join us for a guided tour of the Carlsbad Desalination Plant.  We will visit the largest, most technically advanced and environmentally sound desalination plant in the western hemisphere!

We will have the opportunity to observe their state of the art process of turning water from the Pacific Ocean into high quality drinking water that is now serving nearly a half a million San Diegans. We will also be among the first individuals to sample this new water supply right from source.  Space is limited - sign up now!

Meet at 4:15 at the Encina Power Plant site, 4600 Carlsbad Blvd. When you enter the power plant site you will take a quick left and park in the small lot before the gate. Our guide will meet our group there.  Tour goes from 4:30 to 5:30.   After the tour, we can adjourn to Karl Strauss,  5801 Armada Drive, for a brief no-host social hour.

All must have a photo ID on them and must be wearing long pants and closed toed shoes with no high heels.

About the plant:  "We make clean, safe water from a drought-proof source - the ocean
The Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant is the largest, most technologically advanced and energy-efficient seawater desalination plant in the nation. Each day, the plant delivers nearly 50 million gallons (56,000 acre-feet per year (AFY)) of fresh, desalinated water to San Diego County – enough to serve approximately 400,000 people and accounting for about one-third of all water generated in the County.
